An Apprentice's Grimorie:

The Chronicles of Abrigal SilverLock

V. L. Fuqua

Abrigal had barely started on her new book when the interruptions began. She set at her work desk within her inner sanctum. A stack of mail was in front of her. The bills, which she had now come to expect, were lost within the numerous letters in the stack.

She began to open them. "Oh my!" She exclaimed as she looked at one letter after another. The vast majority of them were from children; children who had read her book and had began to understand what they had in their grasp. She sorted the letters into stacks Here went just expression of thanks. Here questions on ingredients in the spells. These on visualization went in another stack. She froze on the last letter; this child had modified one of her spells and wanted advice.

"Oh My!" This would have to be answered immediately. She placed the letter in a new stack right in front of her and continued sorting.

Once she had finished Abrigal picked all up all the letters and left her sanctum. Entering her library study, she placed the stacks of letter on her desk.

She had two letters that needed almost immediate attention, one that was already in emergency attention mode. Finally, a very strange letter that she might be able handled on the phone.

Once more she read the letter from the government.

Ms. Crowley

It has come to our attention that discrepancies exist in our records concerning you. The Department of Homeland Security shows that you are an agent of this department. The IRS shows that the Federal Government has never issued you a check; or withheld taxes for income, FICA, or Social Security.

They do report, however; that in 1894, 95 a person of your name did pay income tax on investment while living in San Francisco. That further in 1914 a person of your name living at the same address now reported to be yours began paying income tax on investment and the income from said investment. This arrangement continued till this year.

Now the IRS has reported the use of another name for business purposes living at that same address as you are. This person, a MS. Abrigal SilverLock has reported her income to be bundled with yours.

The discrepancy found and reported is that this would make your age over one hundred and twenty give or take twenty years. One possible reason for this would constitute fraud against the United States of America; as it would entail you not paying inheritance taxes. We find the combine information to be in possible violation of federal laws. We are requesting that you fill out the enclosed form and return it to us.

Report No. 3333

Looking the enclosed form over she began to shake her head. No, she could not let this go. The form asked for too much information; if she understood computers they would crosscheck everything. So let's try a little magic over the phone.
